Punxsy junior high cross country sees improved times at Crimson Hawk Invite

INDIANA — The Punxsutawney junior high cross country team took part in the Crimson Hawk Invitational on Saturday, where the team continued to improve as the season continues.

Punxsy’s Chris Setree took 16th with a time of 13:19, while Breana Bergreen came in 22nd with a time of 15:23 in the girls’ race. Both racers finished the day with new seasonal-best times.

Adin Bish came in 23rd with a time of 14:13, and Nolan Lewis took 31st with a time of 15:55. Also, Christian Gambino came in 36th with a time of 19:00, which was a personal best.

“Adin had a solid day and continues to be consistent and dependable for the boys team,” said Punxsy Coach Ann Koppenhaver. “Nolan looked confident and strong, as he had a seasonal best.”

Cheyenne Gervasoni came in 31st for the girls team with a time of 17:02, which was a seasonal-best time.

“Cheyenne is starting to push her way to the lead pack each race,” said Koppenhaver. “She has a lot more potential to break into the 16 minuterange.”

Brehanna Satterlee raced to 32nd with a time 18:05. “Brehanna had a great day, taking two minutes off her time, and she shows determination every time she runs,” added Koppenhaver.

Jorja Ansinger came in 33rd with a time of 18:08, which was a seasonal best, while Reagan Houk took 34th with a time 18:15, another seasonal best. “Reagan had another great race, keeping with the pack of Satterlee and Ansinger.”

Riley Miller came in 38th with a time of 19:00, and Beth Vallies raced to 39th with a time of 19:44. Also, Aleena Filitske took 40th with a time of 21:55.

She added, “Beth dropped almost two minutes off her previous time to finish under 20 minutes, and Aleena broke under 22 minutes for the first time.”
