By Matthew Triponey Of The Spirit
Jefferson County wrapped up a second week with no COVID-19 deaths, according to data posted by the Pennsylvania Department of Health on Wednesday.
The county’s death toll remains at 257.
Jefferson County seems to be adding new cases of the virus at a relatively consistent rate. The Department of Health identified 44 additional cases last week, bringing the cumulative total to 10,717, of which 7,302 are confirmed and 3,415 are probable.
The good news for Jefferson County for the moment is that as of Wednesday, no one was hospitalized with the virus in area medical facilities.
Jefferson County’s full vaccination rate crept up last week as well, clearing roughly 49 percent.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention continues to rate Jefferson County’s community COVID-19 level as low.
