Junior High Lady Chucks basketball best DuBois at home.

PUNXSUTAWNEY — The Punxsutawney 7th- and 8th-grade Lady Chucks returned home on Wednesday afternoon to host visiting DuBois.

The 7th-grade Lady Chucks beat the Lady Beavers 28-8, with Maylyn Smart scoring 14 points to lead her team. Emma Young scored five points, while Chloe Bishop put in three. Also, Bella Young, Alyse Powell and Sammi Case all put in two points apiece.

Punxsy coach Darrin Kriebel noted that the girls came to play and finished the evening in good shape as the season is nearing the end.

The 8th-grade Lady Chucks went on to beat DuBois 35-16 at the end of the evening, as the home team outshot the Lady Beavers 16-6 in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the Lady Chucks outscored the visitors 8-2, and in the third, Punxsy outgained them 6-4. In the fourth and final quarter, Punxsy outscored the Lady Beavers 5-4.

Ella White led Punxsy with 12 points, while Natalie Burkett scored nine points. Zoey Rushnok pitched in four points, while Addy Lewis, Emma Young, Miley Hoover, Bella Young and London all put in two points apiece.

The Lady Chucks will be on the road to Brockway tomorrow, with a 4 p.m. start time.
